It's Been a Minute

I ordered a lightweight vest from LL Bean and when it arrived the other day I found that it was a little big. If this had happened any time in the last 12 months, I would have printed a return label and dropped my package either at the post office or UPS Store. But there is an LL Bean store not 20 minutes from our house, and being fully vaccinated, it seemed like a good Sunday errand to go make an exchange for a vest that fits.

So we did. It's not that we haven't been shopping all year; we have in moderation, but today being out and about in the sunshine, jockeying for a spot in the parking lot, and then spending a little time checking out the sale racks and new spring offerings? Well.

And although it is hard to say if it felt more like a beginning or an ending, it undoubtedly felt very different.

  1. It does feel like things are changing and hopefully for the better. It's interesting to wonder if it's an ending or a beginning. My son and his fiancee just announced their rescheduled-from-last-spring-reduced-in-size wedding for June 5th. Even though I'll be fully vaccinated by then, I'm having a tough time wrapping my head around all that that will involve in terms of contact, shopping, etc. Maybe I should ease myself in with a few local shopping trips first. :)

  2. A shopping trip! Fancy that! Going to a mall, no less. (Not that you ventured any further than you had to.) If you had to jockey for a spot, then you weren’t the only people who had this thought. Did you find yourself wondering what percentage of your fellow shoppers had also had their vaccines?

  3. Great observation about our limbo between beginning and end. Venturing out a little too, and "different" it is.

  4. What an adventure! I've been hankering for a shopping excursion, myself.
